The Contract • The Artist's Reserved Rights Transfer and Sale Agreement
The following contract was drafted in 1971 by Bob Projansky and Seth Siegelaub after extensive consultation with artists, gallerists, museums, lawyers, critics, and collectors. It was explicitly drafted as an attempt to create a standard contract that could be used and reproduced free of charge.
Seth Siegelaub (1941 - 2013) is considered one of the best-known gallerists and exhibition organizers of the conceptual art of the 1960s and 1970s. Bob Projansky worked as a lawyer in New York City at the time.
